Fuyao University of Science and Technology Approved

On January 13th, 2025, exciting news came out. The Ministry of Education approved（批准） the establishment of Fuyao University of Science and Technology. This new school has attracted a lot of attention.

Fuyao University of Science and Technology is a special non – profit（非营利的）, privately – aided（私人资助的） university. It was initiated（发起） by Cao Dewang, the head of Fuyao Group. The Heren Charity Foundation donated（捐赠） a large sum of money for its construction. The school is located on Liuzhou Island in Fujian Province, covering an area of 1,273 mu (about 84.87 hectares（公顷）).

Back in 2021, Cao Dewang expressed his wish to establish a university focusing on science and engineering. The university aims to become a top – level research institution（机构）, with both undergraduate（本科的） and postgraduate（研究生的） programs. Currently, it already has some teaching units like the School of Materials Science and Engineering. In the future, about 12,000 to 13,000 full – time students will study here.

Wang Shuguo, the former president of Xi’an Jiaotong University, will serve as the president of this new university. And he said that in 2025, the university would start enrolling（招生） students. They hope to make it as outstanding as renowned（著名的） foreign universities. With the approval, the new university will surely inject（注入） new vitality into China’s education.
