庆祝首个“非遗春节”

Celebrating the First “ICH Spring Festival” 

This year’s Spring Festival is very special because China celebrates its first “Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Spring Festival”. ICH means traditions passed down from old times, such as paper-cutting, lion dances, and traditional food-making. These traditions help us remember our history and culture.  

In the past, Spring Festival mainly featured family dinners and red envelopes. But this year, we tried more ICH activities. My family made paper lanterns, and our community had a fun shadow puppet show. My grandparents even taught young people to write Spring Festival couplets! It was interesting to mix old traditions with modern life.  

I also learned that protecting ICH is not only about the past. For example, some artists use traditional patterns to make cute zodiac stickers for phones! This shows that old culture can be new and fun.  

This Spring Festival, while eating dumplings and watching fireworks, let’s also remember the value of our traditions. Culture makes us who we are!
